NUJ Inaugurates Task Force On Touting

The Rivers State Council of the Nigeria Union of
Journalists, (NUJ) has set up a task force to eradicate touting and quackery in
the journalism practice in the state with a charge to the committee to brace up
to the assignment.

Inaugurating the task force in his office Monday, the
chairman of the council, Mr Opaka Dokubo described the assignment as tasking
but assured the task force of needed support and tools that would enable it
succeed in its assignment.

Mr Dokubo decried the
negative image the impostors had brought to the profession and advised
all those involved in the menace to quickly retrace their  steps or be prepared to face the consequences
of their action.

The NUJ chairman said the union is always prepared and
committed to ensure that the fight against touting and quackery in the
journalism profession is won and urged members of the task force to take the
assignment seriously.

Responding on behalf of other members, the chairman of the
task force, Mr Felix Okogbule, appealed to journalists in the state to see
themselves as members of the task force by supplying useful information to the
task force to make their work easier.

Mr Okogbule thanked the state executive council NUJ for
finding them worthy to serve the union and promised that the committee will do
everything possible to send the perpetrators out of business.
