NLC, TUC Forum Calls For Fiscal Federalism

A forum of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in the nine oil producing states has ended a meeting in Uyo capital of Akwa Ibom State with far reaching resolutions on the state of the Nation.

In a communiqué signed by all the leaders of the forum stated that it deliberated extensively on the on-going debate for the review of the constitution, with respect to on-shore offshore dichotomy, devolution of powers, true federalism, corruption, insecurity, power sector reform and the petroleum sector reform.

It stated that the call for the re-introduction of the on-shore off-shore dichotomy was uncalled for and an unnecessary diversion, stressing that it portends great danger for the unity of the country and described the 13% oil derivation as inadequate for the oil producing states.
