NAOC Rural Project Excites Host Communities

Host communities of Twon Brass and Ondewari in Bayelsa State have expressed gratitude over the provision of rural infrastructure by the Nigerian  Agip Oil Company and its joint venture partners in the respective areas.

The communities made the commendation during the respective commissioning of the second 11 KVA circuit from PPS4  to Twon Brass in Brass Local Government Area and a 2.56 kilometre concrete road project in Ondewari community, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area,  recently by the Nigerian Agip Oil Company.

In Twon Brass, the Brass Local Government Council chairman who was represented by the vice chairman, Hon. Suoyo Charles, while commending NAOC, called for partnership and synergy between Agip and the Local Government Area  toward embarking on further development projects in the area.

The deputy paramount ruler, Chief F.A PottsJohnson George, who represented the Amayanabo of Twon Brass and the Community Development Committee (CDC) ,chairman, Chief Henry E. Henry, noted that the electricity project will enhance the economic activities and appealed that Agip should further concentrate on the provision of potable water and employment for their youths.

Representing the NAOC General Manager, District, Giovanni Savini, the Swamp Area Manager, Isewede Asuame, in Twon Brass, said the second 11 KVA circuit from pp54 to Twon Brass is a fulfillment of the Memorandum of Understanding between the community and NAOC in 2004 and with a view to ameliorate the difficulties witnessed in area of power delivery and generation, as well as boosting economic activities in the area. He also urged them to maintain the existing peace.

While in Ondewari community, the NAOC Public Relation Community and Government Liaison Manager, Prince Nwachuku Obi, who represented the NAOC General Manager, District, said the concrete road project was a demonstration of Agip’s willingness to continually improve the living conditions of the host communities, noting that it will enhance accessibility and freedom of movement within the neighbourhood. He urged them to sustain the enabling peaceful environment to enable Agip oil operations to thrive.

The representative of the Bayelsa State Minsitry of Environment, Ezekiel Adike and the representative of the Special Adviser to the Bayelsa State Governor, on Oil/Gass matters, Victor Isaiah  Agip for complementing the State Government efforts towards provision of rural infrastructure at the grassroot level.
