The wife of Ebonyi State  Governor, Mrs Josephine Elechi, has urged women in the state to contribute their quota toward curbing insecurity in the society.

Elechi made the call in Ukaba in Ebonyi Local Government Area while addressing women after this year’s annual women gathering known as August Meeting.

She said that good security would bring about an environment conducive for socio-economic activities while enhancing the living condition of the people.

The governor’s wife reminded the women of their role as mothers and home-makers engaged in moulding the character of children to make them good citizens.

“My office is committed toward pursuing programmes that would facilitate the promotion of effective healthcare delivery.

“We are also pursuing programmes that will ensure the improvement of the living standard of the less- privileged through the Mother and Child Care Initiative,” she said.

She  reiterated the need for women to embrace the crusade for positive societal transformation by exhibiting characters that would benefit the society.

Also speaking, the Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Mr Chukwuma Nwazunku, advised the people to develop the habit of keeping their environment clean.

“Good environment is for our own health, hence, the new environmental law enacted by the Assembly will not spare anybody who fails to abide by it,’’ he said.

The Chairman of Ebonyi Local Government Council, Dr Adaeze Nwuzor, charged the women to plant trees to curb the threat of global warming.
