The Rivers State Government will soon resume academic activities at the Model Secondary School, Eleme, the first among the 24 Model Secondary Schools being built across the state.

The development follows the handing over of the school to an India-based education consortium Educomp Solution Limited.

Educomp is the largest Education Company in India and is spread across the entire education system in the country.

The company currently works with 29,000 schools and serves over 19.4 million learners and educators across the world.

African Regional Chief Executive Officer of the company, Mr. Shantaram V. Hegdekatte said in a press briefing in Port Harcourt that the Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has mandated the company to run the Model School.

Mr. Hegdekatte said the mandate is part of the Governor’s vision of ensuring that international quality education is not restricted to the rich in the society.

He said that, it was against this background that the company is ensuring that admission into the school is strictly based on merit, stressing that meritorious students irrespective of their social background will be admitted into the schools.

Mr. Hegdekatte, however, said that equal quota in terms of admission will be given to the 23 Local Government areas and non-indigenes in the state.
