Lawmaker Laments Educational Disconnect In Rumuekpe

The leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Chidi Lloyd, has lamented the socio-economic and educational disconnect in Rumuekpe community in Emohua local government area, following the destruction of public and private buildings in the community.

Hon. Lloyd who represents Emohua constituency in the State Assembly stated this Saturday when he visited the embattled Rumuekpe community to present relief materials to the people.

The lawmaker decried the lack of health facilities and schools in the area, regretting that since the crisis in 2005, children of the area have been deprived of schooling.

According to him, the situation may breed more illiterates and urged the people to foregive one another and forge a common front in the process of rebuilding and reconstructing the community. He charged the people to embrace peace and prayed that “never again should what happened in Rumuekpe community occur in any part of Emohua local government area” urging them to collectively ensure peaceful co-existence. The Leader reiterated the intention of the Governor Chibuike Amaechi-led administration to develop Rumuekpe along side other communities, assuring that as their representative, he will deliver their message to the appropriate authority.

“We shall assist you to return home and we will provide an enabling environment for the returnees to settle by ensuring that your primary and Secondary schools are restored as well as health centre”, Hon. Lloyd said. The lawmaker who used the occasion to inaugurate an 11-member Community Development Community (CDC), which he is Chairman promised to identify a project he would sponsor.
