Kano Pillars, Worthy Winners Of NPL Title – GM

The General Manager of Kano Pillars FC, Alhaji Abba Galadima has said that even without the deduction of Ocean Boys FC’s points from the table, nothing would have stopped his club from winning the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) title this season.

Precisely, last week Wednesday the NPL board in compliance with Article 4.2(3) of the statutes expelled Ocean Boys FC from the league for not attending more than two matches and cancelled the club’s played and unplayed matches.

As a result, there was deduction of points from the matches involving Ocean Boys, which gave advantage to Kano Pillars over the two title contenders Rangers and Lobi Stars FCs.

According to Galadima, Pillars deserve their crown because they won the league with correct points accrued to them during the season.

“I advise those clubs that were contesting for the title with us to accept defeat in good fate and stop finding ways to fault NPL’s compliance with the statutes,” Galadima said.

He continued that his team are true champions, who won the league with legitimate points, saying that nobody would have crowned them champions if there was any foul play. Without deduction of points, we will still win the league because it has been destined by God.

The general manager lauded the leadership of NPLC for following the statutes strictly, adding that anything contrary to that would have rubbished the NPL board.

“I want to commend the NPL for respecting the statutes. Now the board has maintained its credibility and this is good for the league,” he added.
