South Africa captain Steven Pienaar has withdrawn from  Friday’s friendly against Brazil in Sao Paulo.

The Everton midfiedler pulled a thigh muscle in last  Saturday’s English Premier League clash against West Brom.

Pienaar has been in impressive form since returning to Goodison Park from Tottenham but was unable to prevent West Brom winning 2-0.

A South African FA spokesman said  that SuperSport United midfielder,  George Maluleka will replace Pienaar.

National coach, Gordon Igesund will meet the squad before naming a skipper for the Brazil showdown.

Another change to the 25-man squad sees Edward Manqele of Mamelodi Sundowns come in for veteran striker Siyabonga Nomvethe, who tore ligaments playing for Moroka Swallows.
