Imo Assembly Fails To Swear-In PDP Member

The Imo State House of Assembly has again failed to sit for the third  time to swear-in Hon. Eugene Dibiagwu, the acclaimed winner  of the last Oguta State Constituency re-run election.

A Judge of the High Court III, Owerri, Justice Ngozi Opara has earlier given an injunction restraining the honourable House from swearing-in the PDP candidate and winner, Hon. Dibiagwu.

It would be recalled that the state polity has been over-heated owing to the periodic cancellation of the swearing-in exercise.

The court injunction emanated from the suite against Hon. Dibiagwu by the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate, Water Uzonwanne.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajimogu, at the plenary had announced that the dispute would be amicably resolved by the special judiciary committee of the House, while also respecting the position of the court.

In his reaction, the spokesperson of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State, Mr. Bladyn Amajuruonwu described the delay as a ploy to frustrate PDP and its candidate.

The atmosphere in the state now is unpredictable considering the political tension that has enveloped the two major contending parties (PDP and APGA) in the state.

The political tension in the state revolves around the disobedience of Governor Rochas Okorocha to the Court of Appeal verdict that recalled the sacked 27 elected PDP chairmen and councilors,  seeking  tenure elongation by the chairmen and the recent Imo Assembly failure to swear-in Dibiagwu.

Every Imolite is now waiting to see who will blink at the end of the crisis so as to avert the retardation of development in the state.
