Greed, Insincerity Stalls Opposition Parties’ Merger

The National Chairman of Progressive Action Congress (PAC), Chief Charles Nwodo, has identified greed and insincerity as responsible for the inability of opposition parties in the country to forge an alliance.

Nwodo said in an interview with The Tide source  in Abuja that “if the opposition parties are not held down by greed, they would have come together to form a formidable force”.

Nwodo said merger or alliance “is not a paper work but an intensive commitment, with compassion to redeem the nation from what we are experiencing today”.

According to him, merger requires instant actions, sacrifice, service and patriotism and is not about money making.

The chairman urged the opposition parties to see alliance as a moral responsibility to restore the hope of the citizens and chart a new course for the development of the country.

“ We must demonstrate example of unity, accommodation of one another, understanding and the compassion for the suffering of the masses,” he advised

“ It is not about attacking PDP this time around, but about overcoming the negative machinations in our political atmosphere”, he added.

He expressed optimism that with alliance, victory was on sight for the opposition in 2015 general elections, stressing that there was “no time ripe for democratic harvest than now”.

“ If the opposition believe in the unity of actions, a week is enough to come together as one formidable force to achieve their aims and objectives,” he submitted.

He, however, cautioned that no opposition party in the country has the capacity to dislodge the PDP without going into an alliance or merging with other political parties.

Nwodo therefore called on the parties to be more committed to the cause of Nigerian in order not to loose the peoples’ confidence.
