Gombe Moves To Establish Mortgage Institution

Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe State announced on Wednesday that the government would establish a mortgage institution to enable about one million people in the state to own houses.

Dankambo announced this in Gombe at a reception organised by the People Democratic Party (PDP) to welcome him from the Lesser Hajj (Umrah).

He said that he had directed the Commissioner of Justice to work out the modalities for the establishment of the agency, to speed up efforts at providing housing to the people of the state.

According to him, the institution will provide loans to willing individuals, which would repaid within 10 years to 20 years.

He also said that the government would conduct an assessment of the needs of the flood victims with a view to assisting them.

Dankwambo urged the victims to be honest in providing information on the property they lost in the disaster.

He enjoined the people of the state to imbibe the culture of proper refuse disposal and the clearing of drains, to prevent flooding and assured them that the government would ensure justice and fairplay in the execution of projects and programmes.

Earlier, The PDP Chairman in the state, Mr. jack Gumpy, expressed the party’s to the governor’s development efforts.

Gumpy urged the people to support the Dankwambo administration in its efforts to develop the state.
