Court to Hear Application to Inspect Obio Akpor’s Finances
A Port Harcourt High court presided over by Barrister (mrs) Suzy Nyesome Wike has adjourned to the 19th October 2012 moving the chairman of Obio Akpor local government Area, Hon. Timothy Nsirim and one Amodi Felix.
Mr. Amadi Felix an indigene of the area had filed an application at the court seeking for the right to vilest the council’s need in respect to financial transaction in the council.
The application to section 2 subsections 3 and section 21 of the freedom of in formation Act 2011 seeks a declaration that Felix Amadi the claimant on record has a right to access to the records\ information’s requested from the defendant.
It also seeks an order compelling the Obio Akpor local government council to release the required record and information requested by the claimant as regards to the detected particular and financial statements of income, approved estimate expenditure and Bank statements of the council since inception of the present regime of Hon. Prince Timothy Nsirim, the executive chairman.
It also urged the court to determine whether the dependent is liable to a fine of N500, 000 for wrongful denial of access to information.
However when the case came up for hearing the presiding judge Mrs. Nyesome Wike adjourned it for further hearing.
