Anambra Gets MTN’s Security Support Project
A GSM service provider in the country, MTN Nigeria, has selected Anambra State as one of the beneficiaries of its security support project.
The programme falls under the MTN Nigeria Foundation Security Support Project.
A statement by the Director of the Foundation, Mr. Akinwale Goodluck and Executive Secretary, Nonny Ugboma, made available to The Tide in Awka, said the state would receive security patrol vehicles.
It explained that the handover of the vehicles would be performed today in Awka.
According to the statement, the initiative aims at contributing to the effort of the state government in improving its security situation.
It stated that the gesture was in line with the company’s policy of contributing towards building a secured and favourable environment for lives, property and business activities in the state.
Since inception, the Governor Peter Obi-led administration has empowered various security agencies in the state with more than 300 security vehicles, communication gadgets, funds and other logistics to enhance their operations.
Consequently, the security agencies have been able to reduce the crime rate in the state.
It resulted in the recent arrest of some alleged kidnap kingpins and recovery of more than 14,000 firearms and ammunition.
