Amaechi Urges Doctors On Active Politics

Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi has called
on Doctors to participate actively in politics with sincerity.

Governor Amaechi made the call at the 2012 dinner and award
nite of Nigeria Medical Association, (NMA) at the Alantic Hall of the Hotel
Presidential, Port Harcourt.

Represented by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Sampson
Parker, Governor Amaechi advocated closer co-operation between doctors and the
state Government for a meaningful projects.

In his speech, Senator Magnus Abe described Doctors as key
holders of the society and thanked the association for the honour done him,
contending that he will continue to support their well-being.

The chairman of the event, Dr. T.S. Toby commended NMA for
maintaining peace within the past years and thanked the Governor for improving
the  welfare of Health workers in the
state.

Also speaking, the new chairman of NMA, Dr. Ibitrokoemi
Korubo said he will sustain the existing cordial relationship between the state
government and the association.

Earlier, the outgoing chairman of Nigeria Medical
Association, Dr. Bonas Harry thanked the Governor for transforming the
condition of doctors and the development of the health sector.

Highlight of the event was award to nineteen persons for
their meritorious services to NMA, including
Governor Chibuike Amaechi, Senator Magnus Abe, Dr. Sampson Parker, Dr.
Evans Yellowe, Professor Stanley Princewill, Professor John Ikimalo and Nime
Hart.
