Ake’s Award, Well Deserved – PDP
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State has said that Chief G. U. Ake’s nomination for the 2012 National Honours, is without doubt, well deserved.
The party, which expressed its delight at the honour in a statement, yesterday in Port Harcourt, said that Chief Ake has lived a life of great impacts as one with immense contribution towards human and societal development.
The statement, signed by the party’s state secretary, Barr Adokiye Oruwari, said Ake, has served as the deputy speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly, special adviser to the former Rivers State Governor on lands, national vice chairman (South-South) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and now the Rivers State chairman of the PDP.
According to Oruwari, “In the course of his service to society, Ake has touched several lives and is generally a father figure to many.”
The statement added that it was for this reason that, “The Peoples Democratic Party Rivers State is truly proud of our able chairman for this honour.”
The PDP in the state, used the opportunity to salute the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr Goodluck Jonathan for the award and the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, for providing him with the enabling environment to succeed.
