The Abia State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Renewal, Chief Donatus Okorie  said the state government would relocate motor parks in Umuahia to permanent sites by October.

Okorie said this in Umuahia while inspecting the on-going construction works at the Umuahia Bus Terminal and a new industrial market.

The Tide reports that the indiscriminate location of motor parks in Umuahia has been a source of concern to residents and visitors.

The commissioner said that government was committed to the urban renewal programme in Umuahia.

He noted that the state government would also implement environmental policies that would ensure better living condition for residents.

He said that the on-going construction works were in line with government’s intention to give Umuahia a new look.

The commissioner disclosed that government had embarked on aggressive urban renewal restructuring of the state capital.

“When those traders and transporters move to their permanent sites, the current indiscriminate location of motor parks and the choking effects of business activities will definitely seize,“ he said.
