10 Rivers Youths Get Cash Awards

The Rivers State Government has presented cash awards to ten youths of Rivers State for their excellent performances in the just-concluded essay competition on Good Business Plan.

The competition was organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs as part of  activities to mark the 2012 International Youth Day.

The Commissioner for Youth Affairs, Barrister Owene Wonodi while presenting the awards in his office said that the policies and programmes of the government will continue to be guided by the interest of the people of the state and the entire nation.

Barrister Wonodi also said that the state government will continue to design good programme, that would improve the living condition of the people.

He congratulated the ten awardees for their success in the competition and charged them to use the money given them to improve themselves.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth Affairs, Mrs Clara Nmebe described the programme as the first of its kind in the state.

Mrs Nmebe charged the awardees to see themselves as potential entrepreneurs, stressing that the competition was organised by the ministry to inculcate in them the spirit of entrepreneurship.

The Director, Youth Mobilisation in the ministry, Mrs Clara Princewill said that all non-governmental organisatons in the state were invited to be part of the competition.

She said that the competition was devoid of malpractices and commended the government for the competition.
