WKA Sets UP Meeting Between Rivers Kickboxers, Ex-World Champ
Representative of the World Kickboxing Association (W.K.A)
in Nigeria, Benson Victor Bassey, has invited Team Rivers kickboxers to a
one-day training exercise with the former World Kickboxing champion, Nizer
Taleb, from Palestine at the Alfred Diete Spiff Sports Complex, Moscow Road,
Port Harcourt.
The training, which is scheduled to hold on Sunday is to
further prepare and boost the morale of the athletes and help them compete
favourably at the forthcoming 18th National Sports Festival in Lagos State.
According to Bassey, the programme is being organised by the
Nigerian Chapter of the World Kickboxing Association to inform participants on
new developments in the sport and as well improve the standard of kickboxers in
the country.
The body (WKA) recently concluded a four-day seminaor with
former Palestinian World Kickboxing champion Nizar Taleb, at the Kickboxing
Gymnasium (Gsym) at the Alfred Diette Spiff Sports complex.
The programme which lasted through 23rd – 26th August
gathered kickboxers from Rivers State and other parts of the country.
States that participated in the seminar included Jigawa,
Delta, Bayelsa, Imo, Cross River and Akwa Ibom States.
The seminar was geared towards upgrading the standard of
judges, referees and prepare athletes for the 2012 NSF.
