Two Docked For Burglary

A Port Harcourt Chief Magistrate Court presided over by Ipalibo F. Iyiabo has remanded two accused persons in prison custody.

The accused persons, Akachukwu Jeremiah, 21, and Chinedu Egeonn, 29, are standing trial on a three court charge of burglary, conspiracy and Fehery.

The prosecuting police officer, inspector Wilson Isaiah told the court that the accused persons on the 26th July, 2012 at Jaros Base, Iwofe Road Mile 4 Chinda, within the jurisdiction of Port Harcourt magisterial district did conspire among themselves robbed one Rockson Allens the sum of N10,000, 32 inch LG plasma television valued at N35,000), three Nigeria wax wrappers valued at 7,500 all amounted to N52,500.

The police prosecutor also said that the accused person  robbed one queen Adenipekun the sum of twenty thousand naira, Aler laptop valued N100,000, one sunny DVD Player Valued N8,000.00 one stor-time Decoder valued N10,000 and reveries of various brand valued at N5,000 all amounted to N143,000.

He averned that the accused persons committed an offence punishable under section 6(B) OF THE Robbery and Fire arms (Special Provision) 1(1) (2)(a), 1 (1)(2)(a) Act Cap 398 of 1990.

In his ruling, the presiding Chief Magistrate I.F.Iyiabo ordered the police prosecution to send  back the case file to police O’C Legal for repackaging, adding that the charge should have read burglary and theft instead of armed robbery charge.

He however, remanded the accused persons in the prison custody and later adjourned the matter to August 8, 2012 for mention.
