Students who applied for the apptitude test screening
exercise in Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RSUST), Nkpolu,
Port Harcourt, have lauded the management of the institution over  the ongoing
e-examination.

According to them, the eletronic process has drastically
redused examination malpractice and other issues as students get their results
immediately.

One who gave her name as Joy Owhor, said though the exercise
is tedious as many students

are yet to embrace the Information Technology(IT) world, but
expressed  satisfaction as students are
no longer robbed of their marks.

Owhor explained that before the e-electronic system,
examiners take undue advantage of students especially the female ones in the
guise of increasing their mark.

Commenting on the whole process, she regretted that
intending law students were tested more in the area of Mathematics and
Economics.

She argued that most Arts students are not very good in
Mathematics, adding that the e-syestem worsen the exercise for them.

The intending law student was  of the view that, intending law students be
tested more on Arts subjects in order to enhance their performance.

The Tide gathered that the e-examination system for the
intending students of RSUST is one of the best thing that have happend to the
institution so far.

Other students who also spoke with our reporter,
suggested  that e- examintion should be
introduced for other exams in the campus.

According to them, most campuses  across the globe have fully embraced IT
development as one of the innovations of the 21st century.

They lamented that it was unfair to only test the intending
students electronically, saying that continuous process will produce ICT gurus
from among them.

A  youth activist and
President of the Niger Delta Coalition Against Violence(NDCAV), Comrade
Christain Bariledum Lekia, also commended Prof Barinene Fakae over his role in
the e-technology  of the university.

Lekia said, the development is one of Fakae’s initiatives to
list the state owned university among ICT schools in the world.
