SSG Tasks Students On ICT Studies
The Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Mr George
Feyii, has charged students to take their Information and Communication
Technology (ICT) studies seriously, saying it will position them better in the
future.
Feyii gave the charge Monday during the opening ceremony of
the 2012 “ICT FARM” in Port Harcourt.
The SSG who spoke through the Commissioner for Youth
Development, Hon Owene Wonodi, said ICT has come to stay, adding that it is
needed at every establishment.
According to him, the system (ICT) has made the world a
global village, thus the need to embrace it at all levels.
He also appreciated the Governor’s SA on ICT, Engr Goodliffe
Nmekini over the good work he is doing in the department as he urged him to
strive harder in order to take it to higher places.
The chairman of the occasion who also is the Commissioner
for Local Government Affairs, Hon Samuel Eyiba, earlier tasked the
beneficiaries of the third edition of the ICT Farm, to appreciate the
opportunity and make best use of it.
Eyiba noted that IT is used for information strategy,
hinting that it reduces cost.
He also explained that the early appreciation of ICT/IT the
students will enable them to tackle tomorrow’s technology challenges.
The Governor’s SA on ICT Engr Goodliffe Nmekini, revealed
that one of the aims of the ICT Farm is to help and develop leadership.
Nmekini who was represented by the Director of
Administration, Sir Kwedi O. Nnaah, further stated that the initiative has so far, trained over 850 students since its
inception on August 2012.
He told the crowd that the ICT department was determined to
give its best to both government and people of the state.
