SPDC Plans ICT Centre For RSUST

The Shell Petroleum Development Company(SPDC), has concluded
plans to donate another Information and Communication Technology Centre(ICT) to
the Rivers State University of Science and Technology  as part of its collaboration network in  ICT development.

The acting Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Barineme
Fakae, disclosed this in an exclusive interview with The Tide recently.

Fakae noted that modalities had been reached with the
company on National Economic Empowerment and Development Strategy(NEEDS)
accessment report of the project.

He also described the gesture as an additoinal impetus for
the ICT drive of the university.

The RSUST acting VC said Shell’s offer was timely, while
commending them for their sustained relationship with the university.

The Tide learnt the university is planning seriously on
opening grounds for industrial revolution and
technoloy in the country.

He also enjoined all multi- nationals operating in the state
to partner the institution on ICT development to anble it meet its
expectations.

“Other multi-national companies  should partner with the university in ICT
revolution to enable it achieve its objectives in the area of industrial
revolution and technology transfer”, he said.

It would be recalled that RSUST was about the first
state-owned university that established a standard ICT centre in the country.
