Sharks FC Refutes Match Fixing Allegation

The management, Nigeria Premier League side, Sharks FC of
Port Harcourt has debunked insinuations by some media organisations  that the coaching crew and some players of
the club were suspended as a result of an alleged match fixing.

According to a press release signed by press officer of the
Rivers State Ministry of Sports, Juliana Masi, the Management of Sharks
Football Club said it never at anytime stated that the affected members of the
club were suspended on match fixing but rather the decision came as a result of
non-performance, anti-club activities and non-commitment by the affected
coaches and players of the team.

The Permanent Secretary, Engr. Paulinus Nwakwoala, during a
media briefing on Wednesday, said sponsors of the club, Rivers State Government
has had high hopes in the 2011/2012 season, and the technical crew of Sharks
had given assurances of its commitment to ensure victory but was surprised
about non-commitment and high level of indiscipline in the team.

Consequently, the Management in a bid to redirect affairs of
the team towards achieving result, decided to start a reform by first
suspending the alleged coaching crew and players to enable her carry out an
investigation.

The Management however, appreciated the media for the high
level of coverage and the fans for total support.
