Rivers Swears In 10 Magistrates

President of Customary Court of Appeal, Rivers State, Justice Peter Agumagu, has sworn-in 10 newly appointed Magistrates of Customary Courts in the state with a charge on them to shun all forms of corruption in the discharge of their duties.

Speaking at the swearing in ceremony of the new Magistrates at the Customary Court of Appeal Complex in Port Harcourt, yesterday, Justice Agumagu, told the magistrates that the sky is their limit so long as they imbibe and internalise the provisions of the code of conduct as stipulated for judicial offices.

The president of the state CCA urged them to religiously comport themselves, maintain integrity and enhance their capacity on the job, adding that comportment and integrity are indispensible tools for judicial officers.

According to him, the programme marks another milestone in the annals of the State Customary Court of Appeal as the administration would continue in its steadfastness towards the transformation and standardisation of the Customary Courts in the state.

He urged them to always capture responses to arguments and mannerism while presiding over cases in their respective courts, adding that their comportment would reflect on their dignity.

He reminded them that it is forbidden for serving judicial officers to accept chieftaincy titles, take a clerical honours, engage in any business ventures or politics, and urged them to adhere strictly to the instructions to place them in good stead in the course of their service.

He used the opportunity to congratulate each of them on their appointment and wished them successful and rewarding career in the service.

Those sworn-in as magistrates of the customary courts include three females and seven males, including Mezieuzor Uwakordi, Akabuka;  Ndamati Ezebunwo, Choba; Swate Peter Baribefi, Kpor; Moses Ngerebu Sinclair, Ken Khana; and Ezra Jumbo Ngozi Cynthia, Mgboji Ndoki.

Others are Odili Amarachi Gladys, Ndoni; Ugwuora Andrw Azuby, Okwuzi; Okere Remigus Obioma, Umuaturu; Ikechukwu Glory Michael, Omuku as well as Obomanu Godswill for Opobo.
