The Chairman of Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Council in
Rivers State, Hon Maclean Bethel Uranta has charged members of the newly
inaugurated ONOLGA football team to lift the 2012 Governor’s Cup in the state.

Hon Uranta gave the charge while inaugurating the football
team and technical crew in Opobo, headquarters of the local government area,
recently.

He assured that the council would do everything within its
reach to support the team to win football laurels in the state and beyond,
adding that they could achieve this if the players and technical team organise
themselves and make necessary sacrifices to bring glory to the area.

The Council Chief Executive spoke of efforts of the council
in floating the new team and urged them to exhibit their talents in order to
justify that they merit their jersey.

He announced that camping of players would start in earnest
so as to keep fit and ready for the task ahead, while pleading with those that
were not selected to always see themselves as part of the team’s success.

In the same vein, the council boss stressed the need for the
technical crew led by Michael Cookey to be conscious of the fact that they owe
the people the pride of bringing the Governor’s Cup to the area for the first
time.

Responding, the media officer of the team, Stanley Wariso,
praised the initiative of the chairman and assured that the team would make the
people proud.
