Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State, has charged Nigerians
to co-exist harmoniously as Muslims conclude this year’s Ramadan.

In a message through his Special Adviser on Media and
Publicity, Mr Valentine Obienyem in Awka, Obi said the Ramadan was a reminder
that human society must be imbued with those values that led to and reflected
the brilliance of God.

“Eid-el-Fitr underscores love, friendship, brotherliness,
charity and generosity, among other values.                        “We are, therefore, reminded of the virtues
of harmonious co-existence in a diverse society like ours. Greatness will come
to nations that consciously plan and work for it through consensus and
confidence-building,” Obi said.

The governor stressed that hard work and discipline were
essential to safeguarding the future, saying: “Let us always reflect on the
goodness of God which correspondingly demands greater comportment on our part.

“To move our country and society forward, we must constantly
look inwards and towards the Almighty Allah,” he added.

Meanwhile, Obi has joined the Muslim community in the state
to break the Ramadan fast at the Central Mosque, Awka.

He said he attended the session to butress the diverse
nature of the people and religions in the state.

Obi explained that peaceful and harmonious co-existence
would further solidify stability and create conducive business environment to
attract more investors to strengthen the national economy.

The governor recalled that since inception of his administration,
he had extended a hand of fellowship to all tribes residing in the state,
especially when implementing policies and programmes of the state government.

In an address, the Secretary of the state’s Muslim Council,
Alhaji Sanni Ejoh, said the occasion demonstrated prospects of inter-religious
harmony and tolerance.

Ejoh noted that Obi was the first state executive to
participate in an Islamic event in any Mosque in the state.
