NNPP Tasks INEC On Permanent Voters’ Cards

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rivers State, has
charged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to wait till
2015 election before issuing the permanent voters’ cards.

The Chairman of the Party in the State, Prince Princeiwill
Enyi, who gave the charge, said this is to avoid situations in which issuance
of the cards will be hijacked by politicians in 2015.

Enyi said “there is every tendency to politicians the
issuance of the permanent voters’ cards if the process of issuing it has to
wait until 2015 election”.

According to him, “if INEC waits till 2015, politicians may
hijack the process and would want to hoard the voters cards and the purpose may
not be achieved.

“NNPP is not comfortable with the delivery. INEC should
start issuing the permanent voters’ card now, because the aim will be defeated
if they wait till 2015”, he said.

He called on Nigerians to stop the fire brigade approach in
their endeavours, stating that such approach hardly make things right.

According to him, “we expect that in 2013, all Nigerians
should have gotten their permanent voters’ cards before the 2014 Local
government Election and the 2015 General election.
