The Rivers State Government, has assured the people of Ogbogoro in Akpor Kingdom of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of compensation for their community land that will be used for development projects in the Greater Port Harcourt City Development.

Governor of the State, Rt Hon. Chibuike Amaechi who gave the assurance while interacting with newsmen in Port Harcourt at the weekend said that the area of the land that would be used for the Greater Port Harcourt projects in the community was yet to be adequately marked out.

According to the governor, the Ogbogoro axis would be the major channel for sewage facility projects for the new city, adding that when the time comes for the utilisation of such lands the owners would be compensated.

The governor’s position also goes in agreement with the Press Statement made recently by the

Administrator of Greater Port Harcourt City, Mrs Aleruchi CookeyGam urging the public, particularly property developers to give right of way to areas marked for projects.

The statement had explained that some of the land that falls within the Masterplan of GPHCD are earmarked for specific projects like pipe-line, roads among others, and have urged those who want to undertake any form of projects to give right of way to projects area so that there will not be any obstruction.

GPHCD authorities also urged anybody who is not clear about the areas designated for projects for the Greater Port Harcourt to visit its office for clarification before they can embark on any development.
