Monarch Seeks Facelift For Elelenwo Road

The people of Elelenwo in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, have appealed to the government to give their roads a face-lift.

Making the appeal during a chat with The Tide in his Palace, the Eze Omenma-Eli 1 of Oropotoma , Evo Kingdom, Elelenwo, Eze Sunny Weli Chuku said the deplorable condition of the road had divided the community into two.

Eze Weli Chuku, while lamenting on the roads said the people of Elelenwo had put in over N1 million on self effort to ensure that the road is motorable, but all to no avail as a result of blocked drainages and holes.

According to him, the worst affected areas are opposite the Elelenwo Anglican Church, Close to the Police Station and opposite the station road close to the railway.

He disclosed that commuters from oil mill Junction enter two vehicles before getting to Elelenwo Community, as the one they boarded at Oil Mill stops them by the Anglican church where they are forced to walk-across to Join another vehicles that would take them to other parts of Elelenwo, adding that the situation is alarming and calls for urgent attention.

The Traditional Ruler said business activities are being crumbled and tenants packing out of Elelenwo due to the bad, roads, and further appealed to the government to fill the major bad areas to enable motorists and others access to their residents, thanking the government for the enumeration exercise which had started in the area.

He hinted that a pregnant woman recently fell off from a moving Keke-Napep and was rushed to a nearby hospital for medication due to the bad condition of the road. He said  that as tax payers who are loyal and supporters of this administration, it beholves them to enjoy the dividends of democracy.
