Ibiyeomie Tasks Political Leaders On Service
Public Office holders have been advised to place God first,
and selfless service to the people while in office, as the only means of
justifying their privileged upliftment.
Speaking yesterday at a special service to dedicate Okrika
Local Government Council to God, the spiritual leader of the Salvation
Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie decried the increasing instability in the
council and urged the leaders to turn to God for inspiration.
Leadership, Pastor Ibiyeomie explained, should in fact be
service-based, just as our Lord Jesus Christ humbled himself to wash the feet
of his disciples, saying only God sets up kings and so must be worshipped in
spirit and truth.
He commended the council leadership for putting God first in
its dealings and prayed for the growth, development and stability of the
council.
Highlights of the Special Service was the sanctification of
the chairman’s office and environs. Addressing newsmen shortly thereafter,
Acting Chairman of Okrika Local Government Council, Dr. Godknows Tam George
explained that the concept of dedicating the council to God, was to invite the
Holy Spirit into the affairs of the council.
“Nothing thrives perfectly without the hand of God,” he
explained, assuring that he would do everything within his ability to provide
God-fearing service to the people, while in the council.
