GPHCDA Demands Right Of Way For Facilities

The authorities of the Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority have urged property developers and the general public to give “Right of way to it’s facilities, including roads and pipelines, so that the master plan of the project will not be obstructed.

Making this known while interacting with newsmen in Port Harcourt recently, the administrator of GPHCDA, Mrs Aleruchi CookeyGam said the Master-Plan of the Greater Port Harcourt will have to be protected, pointing out that all forms of private housing development was stopped with in the Rukpokwu and Igwuruta axis so as to safeguard the master plan.

She however urged property developers who want to undertake any form of development within the area to contact the authority and get clearance, adding that some areas of GPHC are earmarked for specific projects and that no developer is expected to build on their facilities.

Mrs CookeyGam also explained that between 2009 and now, the authority has received about N30 billion which it has been using to implement the project for the phase one of the masterplan.

According to her, 30,000 housing Unit is earmarked for the phase one but all can not be delivered at a time.

The GPHC boss however clearified that Rumuolumeni and Emohua is not part of the Greater Port Harcourt, but that  the ministry of urban Development can undertake development to those areas.
