A former President of Nigerian Association of Chambers of
Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Dr Simon Okolo, has urged
Nigerian youths to adopt the right attitude to life.

Okolo made the call while speaking in Aba last Saturday.

He stressed that if the youth adopted the right approach to
life, they would be in a good position to tackle the development challenges
facing the country.

“There is need for the creation of social structures to help
provide a direction on which our lives can be organised.

“There is also the need to strengthen our social structures
to ensure the survival of society,’’ he said.

Besides, Okolo stressed the need to strengthen the social
institutions to enable them to contribute more meaningfully to efforts to mould
the character of the youth.

He added that the institutions would, in turn, help to
revive the value system and re-orientate the youth toward credible leadership.

Okolo noted that the lack of morals had devastated the
society and retarded the country’s development.

He urged the Federal Government to be more decisive in its
anti-corruption crusade, stressing that it should also ensure that everyone
found culpable in the pension scheme scam was dealt with appropriately.

“This will serve as a wakeup call to our youths that truth
and selflessness are the hallmarks of good governance.

“It will also show that governance is not all about amassing
illicit wealth but being accountable and selfless,’’ he said.
