Ebonyi Harps On Quality Education
The Commissioner for Education in Ebonyi, Mr Ndubuisi
Chibueze-Agbo, said in Abakaliki that
education was the foundation of all human development.
Chibueze-Agbo said in Abakaliki, recently that there was
need to adopt a holistic approach in the development of the sector as well as
the welfare of teachers.
“Education is the foundation of all human development. If we
develop it, we have developed all other sectors. We shall, therefore, give a
holistic attention to the development and welfare of our teachers. “A teacher
well trained and motivated would always give out his best, you know as it is
said, no teachers no nation,” he said.
Chibueze-Agbo said that the state government had resolved to
give attention to teachers’ development and welfare in the 2012/2013 academic
year.
He said that capacity building and teachers’ welfare would
also receive a boost, adding that the ministry had worked out a strategy to
enable every teacher at both primary and secondary school level benefit from the
package.
The commissioner said the state government was determined to
expand the knowledge base of teachers in the state to make them conform to the
latest teaching methodology.
Chibueze-Agbo noted that education was the main pillar of
the transformation programme of the government, adding that efforts should be
geared towards its overall development.
He said that the government was prompt and up to date in the
payment of salaries, leave allowances and other fringe benefits to its
teachers.
He said that the teachers also enjoyed the approved N18,000
minimum wage like other civil servants in the state.
“Government is determined to restore the glory and pride of
the teaching profession.”
