Court Jails Man Over Traffic Offences
A Mararaba Upper Area Court in Nasarawa State, has sentenced a 32-year-old man, Kinrin Joseph, of Nestle Nig. PLC, to one week imprisonment for traffic offences.
The convict was charged with dangerous driving, driving without due care and attention and failure to produce vehicle particulars on demand.
The convict pleaded guilty to the charges, and was sentenced by the Judge, Abdullahi Ibrahim, for one week for each offence.
Ibrahim, however, gave him an option of N1,000 fine for each offence and said the sentences should run concurrently.
The police prosecutor, Mr Abdul Abu, had told the court that on July 20, the convict, who was in-charge of one motorcycle, popularly known as keke-NAPEP was arrested.
Abu said that the convict was arrested on the ground that he was driving dangerously without due care and refused to provide the vehicle licence, when it was demanded by the police.
The prosecutor told the court that based on the admission of the convict, his motorcycle should be released to him after he had served the prison term or paid the fine.
The court, therefore, gave an order that the machine be released to him after serving prison term or payment of the fine.
