Councillor Pledges Effective Representation

The councillor representing Ward 14, Uegwere Boue in Khana
Legislative Assembly, Mr Kparikpa Friday Neeka, has assured the people of the
ward his commitment to entrench leadership that will attract democratic
dividends and grassroots development.

Mr Neeka, who gave the assurance at Uegwere Boue, I Khana
local government area recently at a thanksgiving service organised in his
honour harped on participatory leadership as the Fulcrum of democracy.

He donated some food items to serving youth corpers in the
area, and empowered some co-operative bodies in the area with canopies.

The councillor said the gesture was to promote enterprise
development among the various co-operative groups and not a political
settlement.

He charged the beneficiaries of the empowerment scheme to
make judicious use of the materials to attract more.

Speaking at the event, the chairman of Khana local
government, Hon Greg Nwidam, commended the councillor over his initiative,
describing it as a commitment to grassroot development.

The chairman, who was represented by the Vice Chairman Mr
Barine Nwilola, called on other councilors to emulate him by touching the lives
of the people.

In his remark, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party
in Khana, Eric Nwibani, represented by his secretary, Victor Dumedam, said the
councillor had by his gesture justified the vision of PDP as a responsible
Party, having the people as prime in its development agenda.

Also speaking, a former chairman of Bori Local Government,
Chief Joseph Babep, said “the essence of grassroots representation is portrayed
in the councillor’s gesture, stating that elected representations should always
reach out to the people.
