Igbo Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State, says it has
awarded N185 million contract for the renovation of dilapidated schools to
improve the standard of education in the area.
The contract also
entails the construction of some new primary schools.
Chairman of the local council, Mr. Festus Ozoemena made this
known in an interview in Enugu.
He said the council had renovated and constructed a total of
23 primary schools in the eight months of his regime.
“Most of the primary schools that are dilapidated in the
local government are aggressively being renovated now. Some new ones are being
constructed and we believe that in no distant time, the issue of dilapidated
buildings and old structures as it affects our primary schools within the
vicinity of Igbo Etiti LGA will be a thing of the past”, he said.
“The council has renovated not less than 15 primary schools,
and at least, almost eight new schools are being built. Most schools that are dilapidated are being
phased out so that contracts for them will be awarded soon”, he added.
Ozoemena said the council had also awarded N28 million
contract for the construction of magistrates’ courts in the area.
He explained that the courts would help to speed up the
dispensation of justice in the area.
