Rivers State Commissioner for Power, Hon. Augustine Wokocha
has urged contractors handling the building of the twenty-eight new injection
sub-stations in the state to take the projects seriously or face the wrath of
government.

Represented by the director of Electrical Department of the
Ministry, Engr. Lucky Anama, during a two-day working inspection to different
sites of the projects in Port Harcourt and its environs, the power commissioner
said the reason for the inspection was to ascertain the various levels of the
projects and quality of jobs being done by contractors.

Hon. Wokocha, who met with the engineers on sites said the
tour was to enable him know the challenges being faced by the contractors which
have resulted to the delay in delivering the projects on record time.

The site engineer for Sigma-Tech, one of the companies
handling the projects, Engr. Clement West blamed the delay on incessant rain
experienced in the state, adding that it affected the civil part of the work.

He, however, assured that his company would use the August
break to round off its jobs for pre-testing.

The working tour, according to the ministry, kick started an
everyday-visit to the project sites by officials of the ministry until the
projects are completed and commissioned.
