Clergy Tasks Politicians On Promises
The Primate, Church of the Lord (Aladura) Rev. Rufus Ositelu
has urged Nigerian politicians to always
fulfil their electoral promises.
Speaking during the Tabieorar 2012 grand finale, at the
Mount Tabieorar ground, Ogere Remo in Ogun, Ositelu noted that the need of the
masses should be paramount to the governments at all levels.
“Nigeria is blessed with both natural and human resources;
it baffles me that so many of its citizens are living in abject poverty.
“Unemployment rate in the country is high, so many
committees are set up but the government has refused to attend to their
recommendations.
“True Federalism is the answer to the problems in the
country,” he said.
Ositelu urged the Federal Government to rehabilitate the
Lagos/Ibadan Expressway as it posed a lot of danger to travellers.
In his goodwill message, Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti , noted that since human effort seemed to be insufficient in Nigeria, it was only God that could provide the people with the right answers.
Represented by Mr Adeola Alofe, Senior Special Assistant on
Religious Matters, Fayemi urged Christians to seek the face of God for a
special turn around in the country.
“I am sure one day Nigeria will overcome these challenges. I
am hopeful that this year’s theme :”Testimony Galore” would reflect on the
country as there would be lots of testimonies,” he said.
In his speech, Gov. Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun noted that
Nigeria needed prayers and urged everyone to pray for peace in the nation and
the progress of Ogun.
“What we are asking is for Nigerians to pray for peace in
the country; what we need is for peace to reign in the country,” he added.
The Tide reports that Evangelists Ebenezer Obey and Shola
Are, as well as traditional rulers, were among thousands that witnessed the
event.
The Tide also reports that members of the church from
Europe, America, Liberia, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Togo and the Oceania, were also
at the Mount Tabieorar 2012.
