Chief Of Staff Tasks Youths On Peace

The Chief of Staff, Government House, Port Harcourt, Sir Tony Okocha has tasked youths in Rivers State to cultivate the virtue of peace and hardwork, while supporting the government to move the state forward.

Okocha, who said this in Port Harcourt while inaugurating the local Government and ward Congress Committees of the Rivers Youth Movement (RYM), said that apart from mobilising the people for the congresses, the committees will also educate youths against all forms of criminality.

He stressed the need for members of the various committees to see their assignment as a call to serve the people of the state, and stressed the need for them to ensure that their activities are in conformity with the principle of the movement.

While warning against divisions among members, he stressed the need for constructive criticisms that would move the organisation forward.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the occasion and  Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Hon. Samuel Eyiba said that the event would further entrench the RYM principles and cherished values in the grassroots  of the state.

Hon. Eyiba charged the committees to ensure that their activities are guided by the principles of the movement.

Earlier, the President-General of RYM, Engr. Richard Alete said that apart from going to the grassroots, it is necessary to sustain the mission of the founding fathers of the movement.

Engr. Alete also said that the situation would help the people to appreciate the achievements of the Governor,  Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.

Committees inaugurated include, Central Working Committee headed by  Chief of  Staff, Government House,Chief Tony Okocha Publicity Committee headed by Commissioner for Energy and Natural Resources Hon. Okey Amadi and Sensitisation and Contact Committee to be headed by Hon. Samuel Eyiba.

The rest were legal committee headed by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Chima Boms, Transport Committee headed by Hon. George Tolofari while fund raising committee would be headed by Felix Higga.
