Beauty Queen Provides Community With Potable Water
The Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MGBN), Universe, Miss Charles Granvile, has as part of her service to the nation and humanity, provided potable water to the people of Elehia in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Miss Charles-Granvile, Nigeria’s representative at this year’s Miss World Beauty Paggeant, holding in China stated that clean water was important in maintaining good health.
She said, “I’ve always been interested in the environment and luckily Iwon MBGN, Universe, which is about the universe and our environment can not be totally free diseases of there is no good water”.
She expressed the hope that the people of Elehia would utilise the water, stressing that its use would help reduce water borne diseases.
She also in collaboration of the state Ministry of Health, undertook a deworming exercise of the children of the community and distributed free malaria drugs.
Emphasising the importance of clean water, a director in Medical Services Department, Rivers State Ministry of Health, Dr. Nuka Clement Famia, said the World Health organization, has classified water diseases into fire five classes, water borne disease, water related diseases, water chemical disease, water wash disease and water infected disease, pointing out that the out come of some of these diseases could be fatal, and enjoined them to utilize the water.
The Secretary Community development Committee, Mr. Samuel Obi, in an address on behalf of the community, expressed appreciation to the beauty queen, saying that “the project was well targeted and would go down was to the spire of the people”.
