The people of Abba in Njikoka Local Government Area of
Anambra State are among the communities receiving free medical attention from
Anambra State  Association (ASA) in the
United State.

The Coordinator of ASA-USA medical team, Dr John Obegolu,
made the fact known in an interview in Abba.

Obegolu said more than 2,000 people received medical services
at Abba Primary Health Centre, adding that the services ranged from malaria
treatment, blood pressure checks, diabetes and surgery.

The coordinator said that some of the beneficiaries were
found to be suffering from malaria, eye diseases and malnutrition, which could
ordinarily be prevented by feeding them on vegetables and fruits.

He said that the lack of awareness was responsible for some
of the ailments afflicting the people, and called for proper public
enlightenment for the people on simple and affordable diets.

Obegolu expressed delight that the team rendered medical
services to the people of the state in spite of the challenges they faced.

Mr Emeka Ndule, one of those who benefitted from surgery,
thanked the association for saving his life, and commended the government for
encouraging such a noble act.
