Yesterday at the venue, Reclamation Road’s team became the
first finalist after overcoming pre-match favourites, Stadium Road 2-0 in the
first semi final match.

Reclamation’s player, Victor Amutadi and English
Timothy  secured the finals ticket for
their side as they bagged two first half goals and held on till the final
whistle to come within touching distance of the N10million jackpot.

Before the match, there were rumours over  protests by quarterfinal losers, Creek Road,
against the eligibility of Station Road players and fate of the  first semi final match. But the chairman of
the competition Local Organising Committee, LOC, Ere Dokubo, dismissed the
rumours, saying that there was no proven case against the Station Road team.

The match was eventually concluded successfully. Today,
Sokoto and Nembe Streets will clash in the second semi-final for the right to
face Reclamation Road in Saturday’s final match.

According to the organisers, the Amaechi  Cup will be concluded on Saturday with a
colourful ceremony with the third place and final matches as the high points.

While the eventual winners will earn the N10million prize
money, the first and second runners up will go home with the sum of N5million
and N3million respectively.
