Amaechi Cup Reaches Quarter Final Stage

The on-going maiden edition of Street Football Competition
for clubs within the Old Port Harcourt Township and Borokiri axis of Port
Harcourt, Rivers State, tagged ‘Amaechi Cup 2012’ has reached the quarter final
stage.

As at the round of 16 matches rounded off yesterday at the
No 1 Field, Town, Port Harcourt, the stage recorded a total number of 17 goals
open play in four matches while the other four were decided via penalty shoot
outs.

Reclamation Road and Etche Street on Monday became the first
quarter finalists after overcoming Niger 4-2 on penalties and Ndoki 3-0,
respectively.

Potts Johnson Street, 2-0 winners over Adaka Boro Street and
Creek Road, nicknamed the Kigalians 5-1 victory over Hospital Road joined the
last eight party on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, Sokoto Street beat their Eberi counterparts
4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw result within regulation time, just as Bille
Street overcame Accra Street 5-4 after playing goalless draw to qualify.

In the final round of 16 matches yesterday, Nembe Street
edged out Banham 5-4 after playing 2-2 within regulation time, while Stadium
Road trounced Bende Street 4-0 to complete the quarter final line up.

According to the organisers of the competition, today is
being observed as a rest day, while quarter final games begin tomorrow with two
matches, Potts Johnson versus Reclamation and Etche Street by 1.00 and 3.00pm,
respectively.
