2015: ANPP Stalwart Tasks INEC On Transparent Elections
A senior member of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) in
Lagos State, has advised INEC to conduct free, fair and transparent elections
in the state in 2015 as it did in Edo.
The Caretaker Chairman of ANPP, Alhaji Raheem Oyekanmi, told
newsmen that if INEC could conduct a credible election like it did in Edo,
“ANPP will produce the next governor in the state.
“ I want INEC to continue with what it is doing now in other
states and replicate the same in Lagos.
“We saw what it did in Edo State, so, it should ensure that
come 2015, every political party is fully represented and the electorate are
allowed to choose who they want to be their governor.
“This is just what we want from INEC in 2015.’’
Oyekanmi also commented on the perception that the ANPP was
a weak political party in Lagos State.
“In Nigerian politics, any state that a particular party is
not in control, such a party is viewed as weak.
“But we are not weak, we are on ground and we are trying to
strategise so that by the grace of God in 2015, ANPP will produce the governor
in Lagos State,’’ the chairman said.
Commenting on the proposed alliance with other parties to
wrest power from the ruling PDP, Oyekanmi said he was optimistic that before
2015 everything would be made concrete.
“For now a meetings are still on with the opposition party
but nothing concrete has been achieved.
“However, we are all hopeful that before 2015 everything
that needs to be done is properly put in place to take over power from PDP,’’
he said.
