Manager of Lobi Stars Football Club of Makurdi, Dominic Iorfa, has said that the team is now in a better position to win the premier league.

Lobi beat defending champions Dolphins of Port Harcourt, 2-0, last week in a midweek premier league match at the Liberation Stadium in Port Harcourt.

Tony Okpotu opened scoring for Lobi when he slammed in a pullout from David Terkase in the 15th minute while Luther Iorhe increased the tally in the 86th minute.Iorfa said shortly after the match that the outcome of the encounter showed that his team was a good side.

“What happened in Port Harcourt showed that Lobi is a good team. This is the first time in Lobi’s history that it is taking six points from Dolphins.

“Dolphins are the defending champions and anybody that watched the match or hears the result should know that Lobi is a good side.

“Nigerians should watch out, Lobi will win the league this year,” he said.

Dolphins’ manager, Stanley Eguma, praised his players for doing well in spite of losing at home.

“My boys did well but unfortunately, they lost the match.

“We blame the referee for some wrong calls like the red card given to my keeper, Sunday Rotimi, in the 60th minute and a goal Dolphins scored that was disallowed in the 72nd minute,” he said.
