Women Farmers Get N.54m Loans
The Fadama III Project Coordinator in Kano State, Mallam Aminu Adamu Musa, has urged women Fadama farmers at Unguwar Chiroma, Ganjin Makoda to make good use of the N540,000 loan secured by the group from Danbata Makoda Micro Finance Bank.
Musa, who stated this at a disbursement ceremony at Ganji Village in Makoda Local Government Area of the state, recently urged the group to re-invest the loans in order to expand their agricultural enterprises.
According to The Tide source, the coordinator called on them to make prompt repayment of the loan within the stipulated period to avoid default.
He stated that Fadama III Project would guide Fadama communities to secure loans when necessary in order to sustain the community investments after the expiration of the World Bank support.
In his address, the operation manager of the bank, Mallam Usman Aliyu, said one of the bank’s policies was the provision of loans to boost increased food production, employment and the reduction of rural poverty.
He expressed the bank’s gratitude to the group of 2011 farming season for the prompt repayment of the loans granted to them last year.
Earlier in his address, the Chairman of Ganjin Makoda Fadama Community association, Aliyu Madugu, expressed happiness for the assistance given to his group by the project and Dambata Makoda Micro-Finance Bank for granting them the loan this year.
According to him, the loan would be used to improve their farming activities such as crop production and marketing.
