RSG Gears Up For Third Edition Of ICT Farm
The Rivers State Government, has concluded plans to kick start the third edition of its Information and Communication Technology (ICT) alias ICT Farm as part of efforts to enhance ICT knowledge of its citizens.
The Information Officer to the Special Adviser to the Governor on ICT, Rubby Anita Minimah, in a statement in Port Harcourt recently said arrangements were in top gear to ensure that this year’s ICT Farm was a huge success.
The statement said that the SA on ICT, Engr. Goodliffe Nmekini, was determined to ensure that the state becomes the ICT/IT hub of the country.
The free initiative programme of the state government is an annual event for all secondary school students resident in the state.
Our reporter gathered that the programme houses about 400 students, adding that the best three among them smiles home with items like laptops and other prizes.
The computer summer, as The Tide further gathered, trained over 800 students since its commencement in 2010.
The event is also Governor Amaechi’s youth capacity building vision to create a development oriented leadership in the new Rivers State.
Another importance of the programme, according to the statement, is to encourage and engage students in the use of basic ICT tools.
“Plans are on top gear to make this year’s programme, bigger and better”, it added.
The collection of forms for the programme has since ended.
