The Deputy National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Sam Sam Jaja, has advocated good governance that will make the lives of the people better by all standards.

Jaja made the call recently at Nsukka in a chat with news men after the conferment of merit award on him by the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, during the 2012 home coming public lecture of the department of public administration and local government of the institution.

The PDP deputy national chairman said that the transformation agenda of President Jonathan is on course because of the people focused programmes of the administration and the stance of the president in not seeing any one suspected of corrupt practices as a sacred cow.

Dr. Jaja then called on people in governance to do their best in order to encourage all members of the society to live a better life saying that since all persons in the society cannot attain the same level of education and prominence, government policies should be planned in such a way that even those that are down the ladder of society will have governance better their lives.

Earlier, in a welcome address by the head, department of public administration and local government, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Prof. Fab O. Onah, reiterated the genesis of the local government department as an interventionist project of the Federal Government to cater for the manpower need of the their tier of government in the country.

Prof. Onah, said that funs for financing the departmental needs have not increased despite their increased responsibilities and programmes which have hampered one of their major mandates of over seeing the efforts of the trainees in the localities within their catchment areas.
