PCRC Lecture Holds In PH ’Morrow

All is now set for the Etim Inyang International lecture on community policing organised by the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Rivers State Command.

The lecture, with its theme, “The Impact of Community Policing in the Global Village, Lessons for Nigeria” will hold tomorrow  at the Rivers State House of Assembly Auditorium, Port Harcourt, by 10’0’ clock in the morning.

According to a statement by the chairman of the organising committee, Hon. Austen Young, the international lecture is being organised to honour the founder of PCRC, Retired Inspector General of Police, Etim Inyang as a means of appreciating police contributions to safety of lives and property, good governance and improved living standard in Nigeria.

The statement said the lecture will also be used to asses and have a comparative study and analysis on the impact of community policing practice in different parts of the world through shared experiences as well as proper solution on how it could positively affect the nascent Nigeria community policing practice.

It also stated that in order to broaden the knowledge of PCRC members of the state and other parts of the country on the dynamics of community policing practice, suggest ways of promoting  international policing network as a means of strengthening cross-border security and promote global best practices in policing, resource persons from Nigeria, Ghana and Sierra-Leone will deliver lectures, and appealed for mass attendance.

Dignitaries expected include, the Chairman, Police Service Commission, Retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, Parry Osayande, who will chair the occasion, the Minister of Police Affairs, Retired Navy Captain Caleb Olubolade as guest of honour, the Minister of Information, Hon. Labaran Maku, and the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, who will deliver a keynote address and the Governor of Rivers of State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi who will be the host and distinguished guest of honour, among others.
