Onu Assures On National Unity

The National Chairman of All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), Chief Ogbonnaya Onu, said that the party was committed to the unity and peaceful co-existence of Nigerians.

Onu made this known in Abuja recently when a Coalition of Civil Societies (CCS) visited him.

He said the party was ready to work with the organisation to redeem the image of the country.

Onu regretted the security challenges facing the country, adding that the party would do everything possible to assist the government to proffer lasting solutions to the crises.

He said the ANPP governors were doing well to demonstrate that the party believed in one united, stable, peaceful and prosperous nation.

“ It is true that we have problems in many of our states, which is definitely beyond the control of our governors.

“This is because, the constitution has made it clear that it is the Federal Government that handles security.

“ But our governors have been working exceptionally hard to see that the security challenges in their respective states are contained,” he said

The ANPP chairman assured the group of its total support in whatever projects the CCS wanted to embark upon provided it was for the unity of the country.

He described Nigeria as a great country that was supposed to lead not only Africa but the world as a whole.

According to him, this is because of the abundant natural resources which if properly utilised can make Nigeria one of the best countries in the world.

“ We in ANPP have been calling on all Nigerians to give us the necessary support, many of the problems confronting the nation are self inflicted and the problems can be solved.

“ Nigeria can be united and prosperous, that is why we are calling on Nigerians to give us the support to reposition the country for the betterment of Nigerians,” he said

In his remarks, the Coordinator of the organisation, Mr Chucks Alozie, said there was the need to bring together stakeholders of Nigeria project in order to promote the unity of the nation.

He said Nigeria of today was faced with teething problems, ranging from insecurity, corruption, kidnapping and robbery, which, he noted, were not the case in the past.

He, however, urged the Federal Government to put every machinery in place to tackle those menace, especially the insecurity.
